MAC Lipstick Instigator Swatch and look on NC45

Hello girls,

I am so happy to be able to write posts again, I was extremely busy and slowly resuming my old writing pace.

I am starting with the shade Instigator from my recent swatches. It's a 'Deep Blackened Plum' color; this is how MAC describes it. The first look of the lipstick from tube gives a scary feeling phew I might not wear this , Who would wear this? Nooooooooooo. Trust me, it's a beautiful shade when applied on a single swipe. The color intensity can be built with multiple swipes which I do not prefer.

The formula is Matte and has a long staying power. It might be dry on dry chapped lips do wear lip balm underneath if you have dry lips.

I bought this for $16 and currently MAC has increased it by a dollar and selling it for $17 in US, not sure about India Price.

This shade looks well on all skin tone. Olive / dusky skin tone girls can go for it. Everyone should have one dark color lipstick in their collection. Hope you like the post.

MAC Diva lipstick on medium deep Indian skintone

MAC Diva lipstick is one other most applauded lip color by all. I bought this lipstick in US couple of months ago when I visited. I finally had a chance to try it this week. I had several lipsticks to try and I couldn't wear this. 

Price: 16 USD (3g), current price in India would be over 1,000 INR.

About the lipstick: MAC describes this lipstick as "Intense reddish burgundy". Diva is a deep burgundy color with a tint of redness to it. Dark side and Diva might look alike however there is slight difference in the color and big difference in the texture. Diva is Matte finish lipstick, although I didn't find it dry on my lips. Application is easy, either from tube or with brush. One layer is sufficient to many I did one light layer with brush, took it off on tissue and then applied second layer directly from tube and blended. Using a lip liner defines the lip line well, I used MAC Beet liner.

It stayed on for 5 hours without meal, leaving behind the color which lasted throughout the day. You can apply power supply gloss from MAC, on top of it if required for a party look. Here is a post.

MAC Diva suits all medium to deep Indian skin tone very well. I was matched to NC45 of MAC last fall. All purple, plum, berry shades suit me very well including some red.

MAC Mineralize Rich Lipstick - So Good on Indian skintone

MAC Mineralize rich lipsticks have become so popular and have received positive feedback in the past several months. I already have two of them and have posted my feedback about Lush Life and All out gorgeous. I picked up a different color this time called "So Good" as I could not find any grape/purple shade in this collection.

Price & Quantity: 3.6 g (0.12 Oz) costing $22. Think it's Approx.Rs 1650 in India . MAC regular lipsticks costs $16. Mineralize rich lipsticks are pricey making it the only disadvantage.

Color & Texture:

In tube it looked a bit like Fuchsia Pink. When I tried a swatch on back of my hand it looked like cool magenta which was beautiful. On my lips it appears like a deep magenta color. You might find So Good similar to Rebel but it's not. I will add another post comparing both these colors. So Good comes in the chubby lipstick case and looks classy. The lipstick has mild Vanilla fragrance like many other MAC lipstick has which vanishes soon after you apply. It's so smooth on application, great pigmentation and coverage on single swipe. You can build it up to more intense Magenta with multiple swipes. I used a lip brush this time. The finish has slight gloss/shine to it which goes off in an hour. It doesn't dry your lips.

It's staying power is pretty good too. I had it on for around 5 hours. I had several coffee and water too. It didn't transfer much which is a good think.I didn't had to reapply after lunch the color stain was there throughout the day.

I wore a deep green sweater and did green eyes, I think I over did with this bright lipstick. I will try to keep my eye makeup minimal when I wear this lipstick again.

Lipstick without liner

MAC Odyssey Lipstick on Indian Skintone

I spend some time in one of the MAC Stores nearby in my place and tried several swatches of plum / purple shades. I liked few of them but finally bought Odyssey which has a frosty finish. I liked Plumful, Plum Dandy, Amorous :) and Newyork Apple. All these colors looks different on swatches on our hand and on lips. Let's see how this one fared.

Price & Quantity : $16 for 3g approx. Rs.950 - Rs.990

Color & Texture:
As the name say it has a frost finish with less moisture. It's a nice color between pink & Purple suitable for all skintones. Although the outcome vary from fair to deep skintone. It's smooth, does not settle in line and gives pretty decent pigmentation in single swipe. It's not too glittery or shiny unlike other frost finish colors from MAC. I just loved the color and enjoyed wearing it to Church last Sunday morning. I paired this with long winter dress as it's cold out here.
I like this is as anytime wear day or evening, summer or winter.

The wear time is too short. You might find your lips dry if you do not have a thin layer of balm underneath before applying this lipstick.

Everything being said and done, this would be a great color to wear to work everyday for Indian Women who is so afraid of all bright and dark colors. This goes on with any attire so go grab your lipstick now if you are looking for one all time time :)
